Cicada It-Girl: Reade Heredia

My grandmother, who I call “Missy”, is the reason I love clothes and fashion as much as I do. She is a very talented seamstress, the kindest most generous woman, and my role model. Growing up, Missy made all of my church dresses, Halloween costumes, and several other of my favorite items in my closet. She would always let me help design them and pick out fabrics, which made getting dressed in my new outfits even more exciting. Getting dressed and wearing a new outfit out is still one of my favorite things to do.

This outfit below is perfect for going out and grabbing a drink on the square with friends. When I am getting dressed to go out, I wait to pick out my outfit last because it always takes the longest. I really like trying different looks, but I tend to gravitate towards more simple, modern looks with a lot of black and white. Accessories are the last step when I get ready. Rings are my favorite– I can’t leave the house without them. And I definitely can’t leave without my handbag! I mostly carry small cross body bags because the size is so convenient while still holding everything I need.

This is my senior year at Ole Miss, and every year seems to get better and better. I moved into my sorority house two weeks ago, and although I was apprehensive at first to living with 90 girls and going back to communal bathrooms, I absolutely love it. There is never a dull moment and I always have someone to hang out with. I am also serving as recruitment chair this year which has kept me pretty busy in addition to school, work, friends, family, and simply having a life, but I have enjoyed every minute of it. I love meeting new people, so it has been a blast. One of the reasons I love Ole Miss is although I am still meeting new people as a senior in college, there is still such a sense of community and family here.

I have always enjoyed reading, but in college I somehow convinced myself that I was too busy to read. I’m so glad that I started going to Square Books because every time I go, I just want to get a new book! The first book I read this summer was the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I read it in four days! It was so captivating and inspiring. Another book I couldn’t put down this summer is The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Woa byJunot Diaz. It tells the story of a nerdy adolescent named Oscar and his Dominican family who believe they are cursed. Although they are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum, I strongly recommend both!

I also recommend getting a wool hat for the fall; it can dress up any outfit and instantly makes it look cooler. The hem on these rag and bone jeans also adds an edge to this outfit. However my favorite part of the outfit is the camo button up. I love army camo especially for the fall, and army green goes with everything.
